To meet the needs of its managers and drawing on the latest research on the effectiveness of gamification, Raben Group has decided to launch a completely innovative development program called Manager of Choice. What will happen in the company from September to December 2020 is the result of many months of work and many training meetings with the managers of all the countries of the Group. Thanks to the program, the company was able to develop management best practices, which is a comprehensive educational material for managers containing specific examples of positive behavior. This material was first passed on to managers during the training sessions. After the training phase, since Raben has the DRIVE to consolidate the acquired knowledge in an innovative way, the company has organized a virtual game for managers.
Gamification consists of transmitting a certain amount of knowledge in such a way that in its structure it resembles the plot of a game. Then, program participants will compete in the virtual world of gamification to obtain unique goods (e.g. seeds or fruit) and fight adversity (e.g. pest attacks) to achieve the desired goal and rewards. Gamification is all about competition, cooperation ... and fun. The assimilation of new knowledge in this situation is linked to a dopamine surge and many positive experiences "- says Anita Koralewska- Ratajczak, HR Group Director.
The gamification Manager of Choice is divided into 5 phases: recruiting, onboarding, development, daily work, leaving the organization. Then, during the program, managers will gain knowledge in line with the employee experience cycle. The tasks they will face will cover a wide variety of situations. To make the activities on the platform as engaging and diverse as possible, most of them require open responses or real actions and cooperation with the team. A team of over 40 evaluators was therefore selected, who will check the responses of the managers in the coming months.
The added value of the whole game is the support of the offices of the “Smile and Joy of Children” foundation. Managers who complete a phase / round of the game by providing at least 60% correct answers will receive a token that will allow them to finance a foreign language lesson / session with a psychologist or speech therapist.
The Smile and Joy of Children Foundation provides assistance to disabled and sick children, in particular victims of road accidents whose disability or illness derives from being involved in a road accident. It also helps injured children in their families; from poor families, especially those with many children, to children in difficult life situations, with a focus on education and development. The Foundation was created in 2016 by Ilona and Ewald Raben.
