Raben Group has been undertaking and promoting activities in the field of corporate social responsibility for many years. Corporate social responsibility is an integral part of the family company's DNA based on a system of values. The company approaches the concept of CSR in a comprehensive way, integrating socially responsible activities with the business strategy of the organization. Even now, in the face of the pandemic, Raben Group could not remain passive in response to the needs of those for whom aid in the current situation is of the utmost importance. Raben Group in Poland, in collaboration with the Poznań Pillory Lions Club, organized the charitable road transport of medical equipment purchased by the Doctors for Doctors Foundation operating under the auspices of the Supreme Medical Chamber as part of the support campaign for the fight against COVID -19 on the first line. The total value of PLN 20 million equipment donated by the Kulczyk Foundation to the Doctors for Doctors Foundation included over 57 tons of personal protective equipment which, through Raben Gorup, were distributed to medical chambers and then to hospitals, clinics and practices doctors throughout Poland. As part of this collaboration, the company supplied 1 million surgical masks, 1.5 million NF FFP2 masks and 100,000 coveralls, visors and goggles each. The goods were brought from China to Poznań at the end of April aboard four LOT Cargo aircraft. Raben Logistics Polska, in collaboration with the soldiers, transported the goods, which then went to the Group's distribution center in Gądki near Poznań, from where they were distributed to medical chambers across the country.
The current market situation is undoubtedly a challenge, but it doesn't have to mean downtime. On the contrary, we must act to ensure that the negative consequences of the current situation are experienced as little as possible. Particularly now, partnership and cooperation between all participants in the supply chain are crucial. We are pleased that together with our business partners we can support people and institutions without whom an effective fight against the pandemic would not be possible. "- comments Klaudyna Polanowska-Skrzypek, spokesperson of Raben Group.
When it comes to fighting a dangerous and invisible enemy, we cannot forget the country like Italy, where the situation is still dramatic. The Italian company of the Raben Sittam Group, located in the European epicenter of the pandemic, has not abandoned its responsible attitude and is actively involved in supporting Italian medical facilities. On April 2, a charter plane landed at Fiumicino airport in Italy, carrying 51 fans and 1.4 million protective masks transported from China. On April 20, another humanitarian charter from Dubai arrived at Naples Capodichino airport, carrying 2 million masks, 2.5 thousand medical glasses and 2 thousand protective suits. The aforementioned equipment was distributed throughout the country thanks to the involvement of Raben Sittam, not only to hospitals but also to institutions such as the Italian Red Cross, the Italian Post Office and uniformed services.
"We are honored to be able to actively participate in this project and to make our knowledge of the market and our people available so that the availability of devices so fundamental for the fight against Covid-19 is guaranteed" - declared Wojciech Brzuska - CEO by Raben SITTAM. “The determination and constructive collaboration with all the institutions, organizations, donors and companies involved was the key to the success of this project” - adds Brzuska.
Raben Group has partnered with Food Banks for years, helping them save food from waste. Food banks get free food from producers and retailers and then provide it to people in need. However, they need funds to transport and store food donations. Often these are products with a short shelf life, which is why delivery times are so important, so that food can be delivered as quickly as possible to the people who need it. Thanks to Raben's logistical support, food banks are able to efficiently acquire food that has not been sold and is still older than the expiration date.
Actions in support of food banks are particularly important right now, when faced with a huge economic crisis, more and more people will benefit from these institutions. The fight against food waste and irresponsible consumption was a challenge for many countries even before the pandemic. However, currently, due to the threat of famine, it is a priority. In April of this year alone, Raben Logistics Czech spared over 100 pallets of food from waste, which were delivered to food banks across the Czech Republic. In turn, Fresh Logistics Polska transported over 50 tons of fresh food to banks in Poland in March and April "- explains Jakub Krzewina, CSR Responsible, Raben Group.
It is worth noting that Raben Logistics Polska also carries out transports on behalf of food banks by delivering food to quarantined people. In April alone, 14 food banks in Poland will receive nearly 70 tons of food.
Raben Group has been managing the Transport is Necessary campaign for years as part of its socially responsible activities. By analyzing the activities of the company mentioned above, it can be concluded that in difficult times such as the coronavirus pandemic, this campaign has gained even more importance. Transportation was and always will be necessary.
